Čačak

Čačak is a city and the administrative center of the Moravica District located in central Serbia within the West Morava Valley. The city administrative area spans 636 square kilometres, situated in a landscape where the Čačak basin links the undulating hills of Šumadija in the north to the Dinaric Alps in the south.

Surrounding mountains—including Jelica to the south, Vujan to the northeast, and Ovčar and Kablar to the west—frame the valley floor. Winds predominantly approach from the north and northeast, with surrounding terrain acting as a barrier against western air currents.

The economy of Čačak relies on services, trade, industry, and agriculture. Major processing sectors encompass paper production, electric home appliances, chemical products, thermal technical appliances, metal carpentry, and pharmaceutical components alongside wood and lumber industries. Private enterprise forms the backbone of local business, characterized largely by small and micro companies. Among the largest employers operating within the city are Sloboda, the Technical Overhaul Military Institute (Remont), Hospital Čačak, Fabrika reznog alata, P.S. Fashion, and the country's unique Fruit Research Institute.

Čačak experiences a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb), marked by warm summers and cold winters. Prevailing winds come from the north and northeast, and the valley can receive occasional fog and rare sand‑laden gusts from distant deserts.
