Uwajima, in brief

Uwajima Geography and Boundaries

Uwajima is a city located in Ehime Prefecture, Japan. The municipality sits in the southwestern sector of Ehime Prefecture, spanning a total area of 468.19 square kilometres.

The geography of Uwajima is defined by a wide rias coastline, remote islands, and Uwa Bay situated on the Seto Inland Sea to the east. Mountains enclose the other three sides of the city. Although Uwajima actually lies to the south-southeast of Yawatahama, its status as the terminus of the limited express train on the JR Shikoku Yosan Line leads non-residents to often perceive it as the westernmost city in Ehime Prefecture.
